Cakes...

Ok! So Ive always loved to bake, but have never really stepped full force into it. My Nieces Bday was coming up so I decided to make her a cake. This is the first time I have every used fondant. Its not really that hard to work with. I first made a double fudge chocolate cake and a classic white cake. I stacked them on top of each other, but first layered confetti icing between them. SOO GOOD!! lol. Once this step was done it sat in the fridge over night. The next day I layered it with a home made butter cream icing. VERY GOOD! Rolling the fondant was interesting... As you can see I needed a circle and it kept coming out as a square or rectangle. I think I re rolled it like 4 times. I finally go a circle. YAY!! I didnt get a Fondant smoother, but I saw a great tip of someone using a paper towel and just smoothing it out with your hand. It worked really good. I was impressed. The next steps were easy. DECORATING! I used a bottle cap to make circles and brushed water on the back so they would stick to the White Fondant Layer! Worked perfect... The letters I cut out myself - didnt have stencils. And we had plenty left over so decided to make lil balls to go around the cake. I thought it turned out PERFECT for Caitlin turning 10 :D and it was DELISH!!
